What You Can Do
If you are concerned about the impact summer concerts will have on you, your family, your enjoyment of the area and your property values it's important you speak out and make them known - now! Next summer will be too late - once this is approved we're stuck with it.
At this time there is only a week left so the primary things needed are to get residents to attend the February 3 and 4 Planning & Zoning Committee Hearings, submit a petition and raise money for our Legal Fund.
1- Join our Email List. We'll keep you informed of date and venue changes. Send name, email and street to
info@VernonCRD.org.
2- Attend the Wednesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 4 Planning & Zoning Commission Meetings. Listen to TicketNetwork's side and be prepared to express your concerns. If you are uncomfortable speaking your presence will still help send a message. See the Concerns List to review the issues. Please come and show the town we are united in opposition.
3- Donate to our Legal Fund. TicketNetwork has a top legal team, hired experts to support their application and 200 employees available. We are volunteers who care passionately about our neighborhoods and way of life, but need your financial support for our own legal fund. How much is your peace of mind worth to you? We have one opportunity to stop this. You can contribute online at our VCRD Donation website. The value shown in the graphic is misleading as it was recently reset to $0. We previously raised about $1,000 online.
Most of our donations have been made by check. To donate by mail send your check made out to 'Ronald Burke'. Write 'for VCRD' on the memo line and on the back write 'for deposit only'. Mail to: Ron Burke, Treasurer VCRD, PO Box 164, Vernon, CT 06066.
4- Send a message. Rather than signing a petition we're asking that our supporters send the town individual messages indicating their opposition to TicketNetwork's application. This can be done one of three ways. Please choose only one, duplications are not permitted.
a- Sign online at VCRD Form. The form will be automatically forwarded.
b- Print out the printed form and bring it with you to the hearing next week where we will collect
and submit them together.
c- If you can't make the meeting print out the printed form, fill out and mail to:
Ron Burke, Treasurer VCRD, PO Box 164, Vernon, CT 06066.
5- Help spread the word. Many of your neighbors still have no idea this is going on. Email or call them. A new flyer is posted online. You can copy, email, print or distribute it.
6- Join the Facebook discussions. If you have a Facebook account you can share thoughts and information at No Outdoor Concert Venue In Vernon. TicketNetwork has two pro concert Facebook pages at The TicketNetwork Forest and I Support the Outdoor Venue for Vernon. Feel free to jump in.
7- Write letters to the Journal Inquirer or the Reminder News.
• Journal Inquirer: Send to letters@journalinquirer.com or PO Box 510, Manchester, CT 06045-0510. Don't exceed 400 words. Must include name, address and phone (they will call to confirm letter).
• Reminder News: See Guidelines.
8- Contact your elected representatives. Let them know you feel strongly about this issue.
• Mayor Jason McCoy - Office: (860) 870-3600, Cell: (860) 978-0566, email: jmccoy@vernon-ct.gov
• Rep. Joan Lewis (Southern Vernon) - (800) 842-8267, (860) 240-8585, email: Joan.Lewis@cga.ct.gov
• Rep. Claire Janowski - Vernon, Rockville - (800)842-8267, (860) 240-8585, email: Claire.Janowski@cga.ct.gov
A Caution: Although we need to raise our voices and spread the word to our neighbors it is not permissible to directly contact any PZC member. They are like a jury in this matter and must maintain objectivity. Also please don't place flyers for your neighbors in their mailboxes. We've been admonished.
